History of Grama Panchayat
Pattuvam is an ancient region in North Malabar with a rich history and cultural heritage. It is believed that it was under the Mushika dynasty, which ruled from Ezhimala. It is believed that the name “Pattuvam” was given due to the widespread production of silk thread and silkworm rearing. Legends related to Parashurama are also associated with the place name. The Mullul region is famous as the center of Ramayana carving experts. The Kaiyath Naga Temple, one of the major Naga temples in Kerala, is located here, and its surroundings are rich in rare medicinal plants. The place name “Aivarkollikattu” recalls the penal system during the old Naduvazhi rule.
